Larry E. Fuqua - CLU

Principal Agent / Owner

Larry moved to Hesston in 1969 as a High School math teacher and multi sport coach after graduating from Bethany College. Larry founded the agency in 1973, primarily offering financial planning and life insurance. In 1978 he expanded his service offerings to be a true multi-line agency by offering property and casualty lines of insurance as well. Larry is a past USD 460 School Board President. Larry currently serves on the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents(KAIA) Consumer & Technical Affairs Committee. Larry also serves on the City of Hesston's Planning & Zoning committee. Larry is a member of the Hesston United Methodist Church, and serves on the church Finance Committee. Larry and his wife Becky reside in Hesston. Larry has two adult children, and 5 grandchildren. His son, Chad, joined him in the agency in 2000.

Chad E. Fuqua - AAI, AIS

Principal Agent / Owner

Chad began his insurance career as an insurance adjuster in 1996. After 4 years as an adjuster, Chad joined his father in the family owned agency in November of 2000. Chad is licensed for all lines of insurance in Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, and Oklahoma. Chad serves on the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents(KAIA) Board of Directors, and sits on the KAIA Government Affairs Committee. Chad has also been the KAIA Golf Chair since 2006 which organizes and directs the Trusted Choice "Big I" Junior Golf Championship in Kansas - a community service project introduced in 1969 by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America.. Chad also serves on the Harvey County Planning and Zoning Commission as the representative for the City of Hesston. Chad resides in Hesston with his wife  Abbie and their three sons - Evan, Cavan, and Finn.

Kim K. Manring - AIP

Associate Partner - Executive Branch Manager / Newton

Kim Manring is the Manager of the Newton branch, and joined Fuqua Ruth Typer Insurance in 2008.   She is a licensed agent in Kansas for property/casualty as well as life/health insurance.  She has earned her AIP (Associate in Insurance Production) designation.  Kim is past president of Newton Rotary, Board Member of United Way and Board Member of Habitat for Humanity.  Kim is a resident of Newton with her husband Tim and two children.  She believes that creating positive relationships built on mutual trust is the key to a successful insurance experience for her clients.  

Jennifer Miles - AINS, CISR

Commercial Lines Account Manager

Jennifer specializes in commercial lines insurance. She has been a licensed agent since 1999, and has earned her Associate in General Insurance (AINS) designation. She is a past President of the Newton Business Professional Woman’s Club and is also on the board for Respite Care.  Jennifer resides in Newton with her husband Duane.  They have 2 children and 3 grandchildren, all of which reside in Colorado.

Shelly J. Riffel - CISR

Personal Lines Account Manager

Shelly specializes in servicing Personal Lines insurance products as well as small farm insurance. She graduated from Sedgwick in ’89 and a HCC in ’92. She has been a licensed agent since 1993. She enjoys running and outdoor gardening .  Shelly and her husband Kurt are very involved in Head’s up drag racing.  They own and operate a full time race shop.  Shelly and her husband reside in Newton with their exotic cat Bruno.

Matt R. Seger

Multi-Line Account Manager - Account Executive

Matt joined the agency in 2010. Matt has two primary roles with the agency; as a licensed agent Matt works with new clients to develop new client relationships. He also works with existing clients to ensure that each client is receiving the level of service our clients have come to expect. He wants to make sure all your insurance needs are being met. Matt currently serves as the President of Harvey County Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors. He is also the President of the Newton Lions Club, and he proudly serves as the President for the Hesston Men's Golf Association.

Krystle Hall - AINS, CISR

Multi-Line Account Manager

Krystle has expertise in all lines of insurance. She is the primary service agent for all farm lines, and provides service support for personal lines and all commercial lines insurance. Krystle has been a licensed agent since 2005. She has earned her associates in General Insurance (AINS).  Krystle has 2 children and resides in Goessel with her husband Ryan.

Julie S. Houge - AINS, AIS

Multi-Line Account Manager
Julie joined our agency in 2013 following the acquisition of Smoky Valley Insurance, Inc., where she had worked since 2007. Now, Julie is the Account Manager in our Smoky Valley branch office. Prior to 2007 she worked in the farm processing department of Farmers Alliance Insurance Company. She has been in the insurance industry 12 years. Julie and her husband Kevin reside just north of Lindsborg with their son Brandon. Their daughter Alex lives and works in Salina. Julie is an avid NASCAR fan and loves the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoys reading, gardening, camping and watching her son play sports. She volunteers for various committees & fundraisers with her son’s school Southeast of Saline & helps with the After Prom program.

Larry Turnquist

Crop Insurance Specialist - New Business Development

Larry is the former principal owner of Smoky Valley Insurance, Inc. When Fuqua Insurance, Inc acquired Smoky Valley Insurance in 2013, Larry decided to stay on as a crop insurance agent/consultant and as a new business producer.  He continues to serve new clients in a limited part time role as a licensed insurance agent for Fuqua Ruth Typer Insurance, and Smoky Valley Insurance.

Donald Typer - CIC

New Business Development

Don is the former principal owner of Janzen Ruth Typer. When Fuqua Insurance acquired Janzen Ruth Typer in 2007, Don stayed on as a independent contractor and continues to serve new clients in a limited role as a semi retired insurance agent.

Mike Dreier

Lindsborg Branch Manager - Agent

After graduating from Bethany College in 1997, Mike began his insurance career as an agency owner in Salina with Allstate Insurance in 1999.  He sold the agency in 2002 and opened a New York Life office in Lindsborg then moving it to Wichita in 2007.  He returned to Lindsborg in 2009 and began working for Columbia Insurance Group as a commercial lines underwriter.  Mike and his wife Amy live in Lindsborg with their two sons, Nicholas and Ryan.  Mike has served on the Midsummer’s Committee, Bethany College Alumni Council, and currently is serving on the Hyllningsfest committee, the church council at Bethany Lutheran Church, and the junior golf program at the Lindsborg Golf Course.  In his spare time, Mike also enjoys playing his trumpet with many local groups, notably the Wheatland Brass and The Blades.
